Stained Glass and Lampwork Glass by Polly Toombs

New Classes! New Location!

Bead Making Classes are now happening in Eureka, CA. at Soulshine Arts aka the new Humboldt Glass School. Come see us at 411 5th Street and see what all the excitement is about!!

Please email to schedule a private class or group class at your convenience

Intro to Bead Making -

In this class you will learn the basics of making glass beads with an oxygen/propane torch and “soft glass.” We will cover safety as well as equipment, tools, techniques and flame control. This class can be taken multiple times to build skills, and practice. It is also a good refresher course for someone who has been away from the torch for a while. Each class will be adapted to the students needs. Intro classes are 4 hours, and are followed by a 3 hour open torch for an additional fee.

UPCOMING CLASSES: Sundays - February 18, March 18, April 15, May 6 - 2018

Bead Making 101 -

This is an all day class for those who want to immerse themselves in bead making techniques. This class will have a variety of techniques to focus on so every class will be different. Some of the techniques covered; dots and lines, masking, dichroic glass, encased flowers, making canes, pixie dust and more!  These classes will be on Sundays from 10am to 5pm with a lunch break.

UPCOMING CLASSES: Sundays - March 25, April 22, May 20 - 2018

Everything you will need for class will be supplied. All you need to do is show up in closed-toed shoes and all cotton clothing.

Classes are meant to accommodate the student. From the very beginner who has never lit a torch to someone with experience who just wants a refresher course or some technical help. Many techniques will be covered and classes are geared towards whatever people want to learn. Class size is limited to 6.

Open Torch -

3 hours of supervised practice time is available and open to students who have taken classes or been previously approved. The time after the Intro to Bead Making class is open to everyone, but students in that days class get priority and a discount. Open torch time with me can also be arranged in 3 hour increments through email

Private lessons are available as well

When I took my first bead making class I couldn’t

believe it when I had this little, purple bead with a

hole (almost in the center) that I had actually made.

I know it doesn’t sound like much, but at the time

I thought nothing could distract me from my love

of stained glass. That was true until I saw all the amazing things people could

make with a torch. Many years, classes and techniques later I am still blown away by what people can do with a flame and some glass.
